Reading Between the Lines

Kia ora,

This week for reading we were looking at reading between the lines. We did a few tasks to make sure we know what it is, for when we did our reading. Reading between the lines is where the story teller is telling the reading something without actually saying what it is.

For example instead  of them saying the little girl was happy  they would say the little girl was jumping up and down with glee, there telling the reader that the little girl is happy with out actually saying it.

Our reading create was to make a comic using reading between the lines so that we aren’t saying it directly.                                                      Re you good at reading between the lines?

Here it is

How can we be Champions of Peace?

For the last four weeks of term 3 we have been learning about ‘How can we be Champions of Peace?’

Firstly we learnt about the different symbols of peace. Some of these are Lavender, dove, white poppy/roses, the CND and the had peace sign. These symbols represent peace because of their soothing scent, peace through God and resists us from war.

With these symbols in mind I created a Peace Artwork. My Peace Artwork represents peace because I drew a dove over a like with white poppies and roses and a one lavender over the dove.

We also researched some real life champions of peace and wrote a short biography. I wrote about Malala. I thought this person was a champion of peace because she was brave and stood up for what is right against those that were stronger than her.

We also created a peace prayer book where we had to find multiple peace prayers for different cultures and put it on a slide here it is.

I enjoyed learning about peace because I never really knew what it was and it was a cool subject to learn about with all those people that showed peace in many ways.

I learnt that anyone can be a peacemaker as long as you can show people and lead the way for peace.

One way I plan on being a champion of peace is by showing leadership and by listening, having respect and showing good values.

Is there a peacemaker that inspires or you look up to?

Climate Change

Kia ora,

This week in reading we were reading a book about climate change called Global action. Did you know the earth’s temperature has risen by an average of 0.14° Fahrenheit per decade since 1880! This is very concerning, if we keep up climate change then we will have a warmer atmosphere, a warmer and more acidic ocean, higher sea levels and eventually we would all die. What would you do to help climate change?

Task board Writing

Kia ora,

Similar to last week we have a task board but this week it was for writing. Again there was 5 tasks and we had to choose 3 one of them was were you had to describe a picture of a creepy house in less than 100 words, I managed to do it in 95 words. Another one I did was that you had to write a letter to your future self and you had to include your age, what your interests are now and what you want t0 be when you’re older.
here is my text about the creepy house-

what have you done in writing  recently?

Task Board Reading

Kia ora,

This week for Reading we had a task board that had five activities on it and we had to choose 3 to do.One I chose was called “The Promise”   where we had to read a book called the promise about four children during a war hiding in a bunker, all really scared without any communication or a light apart from a candle that they agreed to only use an hour a day, wondering if its safe too go out or not. There was other tasks like one about roller coasters were you would read about some roller coasters and then create your own on minecraft or draw on. This is the 3 activities I had to do after I read the book. What have you done resentfully in reading?
